On 20 December 2016, Fridrun Podczeck, aged 57, of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Podczeck was made an honorary member of the Society in June 2006. Between 2002 and 2008, she was professor of pharmaceutics at Sunderland University. She was also a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and held the status of Chartered Scientist (CSci). From 2008, Podczeck held voluntary lectures at University College London and acted as a peer reviewer for journals in the fields of materials science, applied physics and pharmaceutics.
