Deaths: Maurice Peston

On 23 April 2016, Maurice Peston, aged 85, of Mile End, London. Professor Lord Peston was made an honorary member of the Society in 1996. Originally a professor of economics at Queen Mary College, University of London, he first came to prominence in pharmacy when he was appointed a member of the Nuffield Committee of Inquiry into Pharmacy. The Nuffield Report was published in 1986 and later that year Peston was appointed a Privy Council member to serve on the Pharmaceutical Society’s council. In 1987, he was made a Labour life peer.
