Graham graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in 1964, and had a very varied career. In 1966 he became a lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmic Optics and Visual Science at City, University of London. While there, he undertook a PhD in “The pharmacology of the inferior oblique muscle of the rabbit” at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College.
From 1977 until 1989 he was ophthalmic manager for Smith and Nephew Pharmaceuticals. Graham enjoyed being a community pharmacist from 1989 until 2002, at the Spa Pharmacy in his home town of Cheltenham. During the 1990s he served for several years on Gloucestershire Local Pharmaceutical Committee, some of them as chairman.
Graham was diagnosed with macular degeneration in 2000, and decided to sell the Spa Pharmacy in 2002 as a result. He then worked as a locum pharmacist throughout Gloucestershire and its environs. He was delighted to have completed 50 years on the Pharmaceutical Register before retiring. He became a volunteer for the Macular Society and visited various groups displaying and discussing aids for the visually impaired.
Graham’s death from coronavirus will not only be a sad loss for his family and friends, but also for the wider community.
