Neil Chapman

Neil was a great friend and a highly valued colleague. He was an exceptional pharmacist and, throughout his distinguished career, he was greatly respected by colleagues and other medical professionals alike.

We worked together for many years as non-executive directors of UniChem in the run up to flotation, and he became chair of UniChem in 1998. Neil played an integral part in the development of the company from friendly society to a public limited company, and he will be remembered for his enormous contribution to the company that has now grown to become Alliance Healthcare.

We were also fellow board members of the National Pharmacy Association from 1995 to 1998: a time of tremendous change for this very important representative body of community pharmacists.

Neil was always the colleague I turned to for wise counsel. I extend my deepest sympathy to his wife, Jean; his children, Rachel and Hilary; and his grandchildren, Mary and Bertie.

Mike Smith, chair of Alliance Healthcare
