Tribute: Timothy Johnson

I first met Tim Johnson in freshers week at Manchester University in 1972. We lived in the same hall of residence for the duration of our degrees and both completed our preregistration for Boots in south Manchester. We both served our complete careers for the “blue lozenge” also known as Boots; Tim was granted parole (i.e. retired) in 2013.

He was widely known and liked within Boots, serving as pharmacy manager, deputy manager and store manager in the Cambridge area before moving on to become a district manager in Kent. Area manager roles followed, in both the company’s chemist and optician divisions. These roles took him to Nottingham, where he subsequently worked in the Boots Head Office, taking on many senior and difficult roles, particularly in professional standards.

Outside of work, Tim was a talented chuch organist and a single digit handicapped golfer. He was a dedicated family man and is survived by his wife Liz and two children, Sarah and Andrew. Sadly, he had very little time with his first grandson, Ethan. He dealt with his illness admirably despite being in lockdown for most of his last days.

He will be missed by many, both in pharmacy and beyond.
