Tribute to Bob Michell

Bob Michell was a tremendous human being. He served the public interest with distinction while a member of both the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) Council and the RPS Assembly. He understood professionalism and professionals. When Bob spoke, everyone listened — wisdom often delivered with a mesmerising anecdote.

There are few people I know, that despite them insisting on me calling them by their first name, I always wanted to call by their title out of respect. Bob (Prof. Michell) fell into such a category. We choose him to be the sole lay person for the new RPS from an enormous suit of non-pharmacists—and we certainly made the right choice.

Bob did more for the profession of pharmacy than the vast majority of elected pharmacists ever do. He was a great man. I will miss my friend and mentor.
