Tribute to Dilip Patel

It is with great sadness to announce the demise of Dilip Patel.

I met Dilip at Leicester where we were studying pharmacy in the late 1970s and we have been good friends ever since.

He was always helpful and kind to everyone who knew him. His love for sports was admirable and he was very fond of cricket and badminton, playing competitively and enthusiastically. Even after a gruelling day in the pharmacy he made time to meet up with his friends in the evening to play an enthralling game of badminton which was tiring (to his friends).

Dilip was a family-orientated man, he encouraged his children to take up sports and ensured that they came and played in the evening. He always made time for his family to take them on holidays and short breaks despite working full time in the pharmacy.

Dilip had a very positive attitude to life and even when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour he maintained his composure and had this infectious smile which would put people surrounding him at ease.

He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. I extend my condolences to his wife and children.
