On 2 June 2020, John Romilly Fowler MBE FRPharmS, aged 91 years, of Egham, Surrey. Mr Fowler registered with the Society in 1951. He was formerly the editor of the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, retiring in 1990. In 1985, Mr Fowler was conferred with the title of MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
It was a shock when I heard that Benita had died. She had been in Huddersfield General Infirmary, in West Yorkshire, for weeks without a diagnosis. She was on a drip because she was unable to eat and, of course, visitors were not allowed at the hospital. Finally, I heard that she had died of pancreatic cancer. In life, she worked as a community pharmacist. Her friends will remember her as having an interest in Latvian and French culture. Irene Gummerson
On 29 April 2020, Patrick George O’Neill, aged 89 years, of Middlesex. Mr O’Neill was a former member of The Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
On 21 May 2020, Michael Peter Ruxton, aged 78 years, of Broughton, Preston, Lancashire. Mr Ruxton, a former member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, registered with the Society in 1966.
On 1 June 2020, Benita Dukalskis (née Odins), aged 68 years, of Brighouse, Yorkshire. Mrs Dukalskis was a former member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
On 3 May 2020, Eleanor Susan Cassidy MRPharmS, aged 48 years, of Glasgow. Miss Cassidy registered with the Society in 1994.
My father, Navin Shantilal Talati, served Dagenham in Essex for 35 years, after opening Talati Chemist in the Heathway in 1977.

On 7 June 2020, Anthony Michael Dawson MRPharmS, aged 81 years, of Kington, Herefordshire. Mr Dawson registered with the Society in 1963.
We were truly saddened to hear that Norma had passed away.

Jane graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in 1979 and spent her preregistration at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
It was with sadness that I learned of the sudden and untimely passing of Rodger Barnett. I first met Rodger in the early 1980s through the North Metropolitan Branch of the then Pharmaceutical Socity of Great Britain. Graham graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in 1964, and had a very varied career. In 1966 he became a lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmic Optics and Visual Science at City, University of London. While there, he undertook a PhD in “The pharmacology of the inferior oblique muscle of the rabbit” at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College.

I was concerned when I learned that Norma had been admitted to hospital with the coronavirus infection, and then it came as a great shock when I was told later that she had passed away. Although our paths had never crossed professionally, she was a near neighbour living only a few doors away. On 13 April 2020, Norma Margaret Irvine MRPharmS, aged 74 years, of Enfield, Middlesex. Mrs Irvine registered with the Society in 1968. After retiring from her pharmacy career, she took up a volunteer post at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society museum, helping to log and archive artefacts.
On 28 March 2020, Graham Alan Hopkins, aged 78 years, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Dr Hopkins was a former member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Dad joined the army straight from school and spent the immediate post-war period in the Netherlands and Germany as a driver and interpreter. He then came back to the UK and started studying for his pharmacy qualifications at the Northern Polytechnic in Holloway Road, London.
On 3 March 2020, Philip Kerslake-Smith MRPharmS, aged 94 years, of Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Mr Kerslake-Smith registered with the Society in 1951.
It was clear in 1992/1993, after graduating from what is now Liverpool John Moores University, that Joanne’s destiny was to be in the education and training of pharmacists and pharmacy staff.
On 4 March 2020, Joanne Catherine Martin MRPharmS, aged 51 years, of London. Ms Martin registered with the Society in 1993.
