    I join with colleagues in paying tribute to Lawrie Robertson who sadly passed away on 9 April 2018 after a long illness. Lawrie was a highly regarded and well respected pharmacist, a profession he was extremely proud to be a member of, and had been, for over 60 years.     The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)’s professional development and support team is hosting monthly one-to-one research advice surgeries for pharmacists interested in learning more about research. Guidance is given on how to develop research ideas, apply for funding and publish the results of research.

  • Royal Pharmaceutical Society AGM: 21 June 2018

    The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) annual general meeting (AGM) will take place at the RPS’s London headquarters at 66 East Smithfield, London E1W 1AW on Thursday 21 June 2018. The meeting starts at 17:30, and tea and coffee will be served from 17:00 for those who arrive early. The meeting will close at around 19:30 and the event will conclude with a networking drinks reception until 20:00.

    It was with much sadness that I learnt of the passing of James (Jim) Ewart in January 2018. Born in Edinburgh in 1926, he studied pharmacy there and spent the first part of his career working for the Co-op in Glasgow. He moved to South Norfolk in the late 1950s to manage the Loddon Pharmacy for Rees Coghlan, and spent the rest of his career as superintendent of his Loddon and Norwich pharmacies.     It was perhaps ironic that notice of the passing of Jack Knight appeared in the same issue of The Pharmaceutical Journal in which the issue of doctor-dispensing surfaced again. Jack was, for several years in the 1980s, vice chair of the short-lived but, for a while, very active Rural Pharmacists Association which campaigned hard on this issue.
