Ash Soni has been elected as the new president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in an RPS Assembly meeting held at the Society’s London headquarters on 18 July 2017.

Members voted to return Soni to the role he has held on two previous occasions: most recently from July 2015 until July 2016.  Soni, a community pharmacist, is the owner of Copes Pharmacy, London, and he also chairs the NHS England (Pharmacy) Local Professional Network for London.

Soni succeeds Martin Astbury, who most recently held the role from July 2016 until July 2017. Prior to this, Astbury was president of the RPS for four years, from 2010–2014.

David Thompson was elected unopposed as Society treasurer.
