Assisted dying laws

14 January 2015: The Times and The Scotsman reported that Holyrood was considering new laws to allow assisted dying in Scotland. They focused on the fact that “doctors in Scotland have demanded a ‘conscience clause’ be inserted into new laws on assisted suicide”.

Speaking to the newspapers, Aileen Bryson, Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) head of practice and policy in Scotland, said: “Among the members who would be willing to dispense a prescription for a procedure, a conscience clause is an absolute must in those circumstances.”
