Best practice for patients with dementia

22 February 2017: Mair Davies, director of Royal Pharmaceutical Society Wales, appeared on BBC Radio Wales’ Eye on Wales, speaking about the use of antipsychotic medicines in patients with dementia. Davies stressed the importance of regular medicine reviews by pharmacists and GPs and acknowledged that pockets of best practice in Cardiff and Vale needed spreading across Wales. She also called for more resources to enable pharmacists to play a bigger role. “We need to ensure we are not wasting drugs and not prescribing the wrong thing for the wrong person, and are also withdrawing it when the time is right,” she said.
