Drug driving law comes into force

2 March 2015: A new drug-driving law has come into force in England and Wales, which sets limits for eight illegal drugs and eight prescription drugs that could impair driving.

Royal Pharmaceutical Society spokesperson Professor David Taylor, a member of the Department for Transport advisory panel on drug driving, fronted over 20 interviews including BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, The Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2, BBC Five Live and Radio 1 Newsbeat. Taylor advised listeners: “Don’t stop taking medicines, prescribed or otherwise, if you are worried about this new law. Instead, talk to your doctor or pharmacist for information about how medicines might affect your ability to drive.”
