Homecare medicines services, done properly, are a win-win

Aileen Bryson, Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Scotland policy and practice lead, was quoted in a Daily Mail case study story featuring a woman who had experienced problems with a delivery service for her medicines.

Bryson said that homecare medicines services, which deliver medicines that are usually prescribed by specialist hospital services, make life easier for patients because they reduce the need to travel to outpatient appointments. “When [the service] is done properly, it is a win-win for everybody. However, medicines are not normal commodities: there are safety, confidentiality and storage concerns so they can’t be left with a neighbour like an Amazon package or pushed through the letterbox.”
