The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s dedication to helping members through revalidation, using initiatives such as the RPS MyCPD app, has won the Society an Association Excellence Award

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has won an award for its work on guiding members through the new revalidation requirements for pharmacists.

The RPS was chosen as the winner in the ‘Best membership initiative by an association’ category at the Association Excellence Awards, which are open to trade bodies, professional membership organisations and associations.

The panel of judges commended the RPS for “capitalising on a regulatory change” to “work differently … as a single cross-functional team for the benefit of their members”.

“As a result, they increased membership engagement, membership renewal rates and new member acquisition,” the judges concluded.

The RPS’s ‘Driving value through revalidation’ entry highlighted work done across the organisation, such as developing the RPS MyCPD app in less than four months.

Robbie Turner, director of pharmacy and member experience at the RPS, said the whole Society was “thrilled” to win the award.

“We have worked with our members to help them understand revalidation via our events, webinars, social media and the RPS website,” he said.

“We also know our members have particularly welcomed the one-to-one support offered by our professional support team. Thousands of revalidation records have also been created in the RPS MyCPD app and portfolio. We will continue to support our members to create their peer discussion and reflective account records during 2019.”
