'Slimming drug' investigation
1 September 2015: The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has worked with ITV’s Good Morning Britain to test a batch of DNP, the so-called slimming drug bought online by people wanting to lose weight. Results revealed exclusively on the programme showed it to be highly dangerous. Speaking to the programme, RPS chief scientist Professor Jayne Lawrence said: “I can’t stress enough that DNP is actually not fit for human consumption. By buying this sort of tablet on the internet they really are dicing with death.”
