Two new members have joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) Scottish Pharmacy Board. Tamara Cairney and Andrew Carruthers were introduced at the board’s latest meeting, held in Edinburgh on 26 September 2018, after being invited to fill two unoccupied positions.
Cairney, a former RPS student champion, qualified in 2017 and now splits her time between the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Glasgow, and general practice in Renfrewshire. Prior to qualifying as a pharmacist, she worked as a dispensary assistant in community pharmacy.
Carruthers qualified in 2016 and now works as a medicines information pharmacist with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with a clinical focus on care of older people. He is also the RPS local coordinator for Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Cairney and Carruthers will hold their positons on the board for three years.
