Wash your hands to help save antibiotics
29 September 2017: As part of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) campaign on antibiotic resistance, Ash Soni, president of the RPS, and others hit the airwaves to explain how effective handwashing can help prevent infections. More than 20 TV and radio interviews took place, including on BBC Breakfast where Soni demonstrated the best technique for handwashing and pointed out that “it only takes 20 seconds to wash your hands properly, but if you get an infection you could be ill for a week or longer. If we reduce the amount of infections we have we reduce the number of antibiotics we use,” he explained.
