Pharmacists play an increasingly important role in supporting patients with the management of skin conditions. The rollout of minor ailment services means that community pharmacists are more likely to encounter patients with conditions like shingles; however, skin conditions can range in severity and pharmacists across sectors should be able to recognise these conditions, advise and educate patients on treatment options and self-care practices and refer on where appropriate.
