PGEU president elected

Michał Byliniak has been elected president of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) for 2019.

Byliniak, who was elected to the position at the Union’s general assembly meeting on 18–21 June 2018 in Marbella, Spain, is a pharmacist the vice-president of the Polish Pharmaceutical Chamber.

During his acceptance speech, Byliniak revealed that the PGEU would be launching a 2030 vision paper in early 2019.

“With the upcoming 60th anniversary of PGEU in 2019, it is time to acknowledge the pharmacy profession’s advancements and achievements over the past six decades and to look to the future to how the profession can further strengthen and support the resilience of European health systems,” said Byliniak.

“That’s why, to mark this milestone in European pharmacy, we will be launching the PGEU Pharmacy 2030 Vision Paper in early 2019 to outline the way forward for the profession to 2030 and beyond.”

Thanasis Papathanassis, from the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, was elected vice-president of the PGEU for 2019.

The PGEU represents pharmacy bodies in EU member countries, candidate states, and members of the European Economic Area.
