Pharmaceutical Journal wins international news design award

The Pharmaceutical Journal has won an Award of Excellence from The Society for News Design (SND) for the overall redesign of the print magazine

The Pharmaceutical Journal has won an Award of Excellence from The Society for News Design (SND) for the overall redesign of the print magazine.

In 2014, The Pharmaceutical Journal’s print magazine was relaunched, alongside a new website and editorial strategy. The SND is an international organisation for news media professionals and visual communicators based in the United States. Held annually, the SND awards are judged by a panel of art directors, newspaper and magazine editors, and journalists from the world’s leading publications.

An SND Award of Excellence is given to work that is “truly excellent”, going beyond mere technical or aesthetic competency. Maria Gonzalez, art editor of The Pharmaceutical Journal, says: “A lot of work went into the redesign of The Pharmaceutical Journal magazine and it is great to have this effort acknowledged. Every week it’s a team effort to maintain these high design standards.”

One of last year’s winners for overall magazine redesign was the Independent’s Saturday magazine. Other entrants that received an Award of Excellence in this year’s redesign category include the Washington Post and Financial Times for overall newspaper redesign.

The Pharmaceutical Journal will be included in the 36th edition of ‘The Best of News Design’ book.
