Deaths: Brenda Mary Ecclestone

On 15 December 2018, Brenda Mary Ecclestone, aged 84 years, of Stroud, Gloucestershire. Mrs Ecclestone registered with the Society in 1957 and left in 2018.

Mrs Ecclestone was the only child of Irvine, also a pharmacist, and Mary Smith. She worked with her father in Halifax after qualifying in 1954, and took up a role at Westminster Hospital in 1960. In 1975, Mrs Ecclestone qualified as a librarian and went on to co-edit the British National Formulary
.

Later in her career, she became honorary secretary of the National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP), and worked as a tutor for the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education. In her capacity as honorary secretary of NAWP, she edited Careers in Pharmacy, first published by Pharmaceutical Press in 1998. Mrs Ecclestone moved to Stroud in 1990, where she returned to work as a hospital pharmacist.

In 1963 she married Martin Ecclestone, who died in 2017. Mrs Ecclestone is survived by two children, Catherine Mary Ecclestone and Richard Ecclestone.
