Boots UK Professional Learning and Development has been accredited as a Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Foundation Training Provider. Boots is part of the first wave of accredited RPS training providers, along with Rowlands Pharmacy.

The Boots Foundation programme is primarily aimed at newly qualified pharmacists, however, it also provides support to pharmacists who are new to the Boots company or who have returned to pharmacy practice after a long period of absence.

Chief pharmacist at Boots UK Marc Donovan says the company is “privileged” to have been awarded the RPS Foundation Training Provider status. “This is fantastic news for all of our pharmacists,” he says. “To have our training recognised externally in this way supports our ambition of providing complete care to every person.”

Accreditation is valid for up to five years with annual reviews. It requires providers to showcase their training and development resources against a set of agreed principles and to go through a rigorous process of quality assurance.

Catherine Duggan, RPS director of professional development, says: “Both the RPS and Boots share the vision to support pharmacists in their early careers to be the best they can be. RPS Foundation Training Provider accreditation recognises that Boots Foundation pharmacist training and development meets the highest possible standards.”
